This project develops a set of methods used for the evaluation of gender and diversity dimensions of the ergonomics and usability of jobs in safety critical systems.

By applying these methods in real contexts in control centers of aviation traffic management, railroad and an emergency call center, qualitative findings regarding gender requirements in such jobs as well as detailed guidelines for use can be created. Based on this it will be possible to consider specific diversity requirements in the design process in the future, using contextsensitive studies of workplace ergonomics and software usability in the male-dominated field of safety-critical systems. 

The project is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) within the program called femTech of The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
