In cooperation with the Chamber of Labour Vienna the HCI team of St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences evaluated the information area for employee representatives on the Chamber of Labour Vienna’s website.

The Chambers of Labour officially represents workers and consumers in Austria. It offers information and education to employee representatives, among other things. Employee representatives are appointed to the perception and support of the economic, social, health and cultural interests of companies’ employees. Employee representatives who are members of the supervisory board have special requirements. As member of the supervisory board they embody the role of experts within a company.

The information area for employee representatives on the Chamber of Labour Vienna’s website is being evaluated with regards to the needs of companies’ target group. Questions are:
  • Which information do employee representatives expect and need?
  • For which situations, via which channels and in which cycles should this information be provided?
  • How can useful and easy to find information be made available for employee representatives on the supervisory board?

Web analytics on the current site are conducted to specifically find problem areas. In cooperation with the Chamber of Labour Vienna (AK Wien) the reasons and significance for the usage have to be analysed. The web analytics’ results are the basis for an online survey of employee representatives and members of the supervisory board. The drawing up of the online survey is done with involvement of the Chamber of Labour Vienna. This way ambiguity caused by the web analytics data should be removed and additional information about the target group can be received. Finally, two focus groups with eight to ten selected employee representatives and members of the supervisory board, respectively are conducted. These are used to validate the conclusions of the first two steps and to detect specific needs the target group may have with regards to the AK Vienna’s online media offer.
