The research activities of Grischa Schmiedl include architecture and security of mobile systems, location & context based computing and educational technology.

Grischa Schmiedl was born in 1970 in Vienna, Austria. He holds a PhD degree in computer science from Vienna University of Technology and has more than 25 years of practical experience in commercial software development, IT consulting, software engineering and project management. Since 1995 he is a lecturer at the department of technology at University of Applied Science in St. Pölten, where he is responsible for the institution’s educational and scientific programs of “interactive media development” and “mobile internet”. His current research activities include architecture and security of mobile systems, location & context based computing and educational technology. One key aspect of his research interest lies in defining and testing “mobile supported” pedagogic methods. His set of “mobile didactical methods”, published originally as part of his dissertation, is regularly extended with new ideas, concepts and tools.
