AbstractBrelomate is a multiscreen communication and gaming platform tailored to older people with the goal to enhance social participation. The Brelomate system consists of a TV for visualizing large content and a tablet for interacting with the TV. It is possible to video-chat and play the trick-based card game called "Schnapsen" ("sixty-six") with other users. This paper describes the system in terms of visualization and interaction as well as the evaluation process during the project in more detail. Results of a field study with 30 participants show that Brelomate has reached high acceptance in a user group, who often fears using unfamiliar digital technologies. Moreover, the system has a high usage satisfaction and all participants stated that Brelomate can be an important addition to their daily lives.
